East Asian Music Summer School

23-27 August 2022

Our 5-day Asian Music Summer School was a great success, and were are delighted that we were awarded funding for it by Arts Council England. It was the 20th summer school organised by the UK Chinese Music Ensemble and the London Youlan Qin Society, once again in collaboration with the Asia Music Unit at Goldsmiths, University of London. The theme this year was East Asian music, in recognition of the close cultural, musical and historical links between China, Japan and Korea. Participants were able to take up to two instrumental courses, and the programme was supplemented with optional cultural activities (paper cutting, calligraphy, ink-painting and yoga) and a complementary ensemble class for takers of the relevant instruments. A concert, "Sounds of East Asia", was held on the last day.
