We are pleased to announce our regular Saturday Chinese Music Instrumental Classes in partnership with the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London.
Located in the heart of London, with excellent resources and experienced, professional tutors (master’s degree and above for their instruments), the courses include an ensemble class for the first time, offering participants a platform to practice as a group.
We encourage all who are interested in Chinese music to join us in this friendly and skill-building environment.
Tutors are DBS checked and we welcome children from age eight and above.
我们与伦敦大学亚非学院（SOAS）合作开设定期的周六中国音乐器乐课程。这些课程位于伦敦市中心，资源丰富，由经验丰富且专业的导师授课（导师均拥有硕士及以上学位），并首次包括合奏课，为学员提供了一个集体练习的平台。我们鼓励所有对中国音乐感兴趣的人加入这个友好且技能提升的学习环境。
所有导师均通过了DBS审核，欢迎8岁及以上的儿童报名参加。
10 weekly group lessons(小组课):
Guzheng 古筝 (21-stringed zither)
Tutor: Yang Kang
Time: 1-2.15pm (Beginner: levels 0-3),
2.30-4.45pm (Intermediate: level 4-7)
Pipa 琵琶 (4-stringed lute)
Tutor: Cheng Yu / Chia-yin Hung
Time: 2.15pm – (Levels 0-4)
Time: 2.30 – 4.45 (Levels 4-7)
Dizi/xiao 笛子/箫(Bamboo flutes)
Tutor: Hu Ruijun / Li Ming
Time: 3-4.30pm (Levels 0-3)
Erhu 二胡 (2-stringed fiddle)
Tutor: Chen Dacan / Huang Ziyang
Time: 1-2.15pm – (Levels 0-3)
Time: 2.30-4.45pm (Levels 4-7)
Guqin 古琴(7-stringed zither)
Tutor: Jenny Zhao / Elaine Yu
Time: 1pm-2.15pm (Levels 0-4)
Guqin 古琴 (7-stringed zither)
Tutor: Jiaqi Zhang / Chia-Yin Hung / Cheng Yu
Time: 2.30pm-4.45pm (Levels 4-7)
Ensemble Classes 合奏课
Tutor: Prof. Chen Dacan / Cheng Yu / Zhang Jiaqi and others (taking turns)
Time: 6-8pm (with a break).
Participants need to be at level 3 or above for their instrument.
This class aims to develop an on-going group to practice traditional, contemporary and cross-cultural music works. Accomplished players will have opportunities to perform publicly and to join advanced and professional ensembles.
学员的器乐水平需达到3级或以上。本课程旨在组建一个持续发展的团队，练习传统、当代及跨文化音乐作品。优秀的学员将有机会公开演出并加入高级和专业的合奏团体。
Group class minimum 5 participants, later enrolment is possible.
小组课5位起，晚报名酌情考虑。
Attendees need to bring their own instruments (Only a limited number of guzheng zithers are available for hire at a modest cost)

Fees include teaching materials. A limited number of instruments are available for sale and hire.

£300 per course (10% concessions), £220 Ensemble classes
(50% off for people who are also taking one of the above courses).
The tuition fee includes the provision of electronic learning materials, and some instruments are available for rent and purchase.
LYQS members enjoy a 10% discount on tuition fees. Please contact us if you want to join membership.

One-to-one classes at all levels are available on enquiry, with flexible teaching times, on instruments including guqin, pipa, erhu, yangqin, guzheng, dizi/xiao and hulusi, please contact us for details.
